The End of the World
Amid the strong winds of the Chilean summer and snow capped mountains, twin blue giants of steels rise up from the icy ground at Puerto Natales and Punta Arenas, two cities near the world’s end, a region where the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean meet to create the roughest waters before reaching Antarctica. These steel buildings were commissioned by Enrique Lopez in August 2014 to Allied Steel to serve as warehouses for his expanding cargo transportation business. Strategically located in port cities along the southernmost part of the Chilean coast and the South American continent, the warehouses have helped Lopez accommodate the rapid demand of food supply distribution for the fish farming industry of the region. The warehouses were fabricated by Allied Steel and delivered by ship from the Port of Houston in November 2014, but the real journey of these steel giants began after their arrival.
